A funfair arrives in a little town. A group of boys want to take a ride on the merry-go-round but they do not have any money. They agree to help with running it for hours hoping to earn a free ride. However, after a day’s work they are too exhausted to take their free ride.

A shy boy wants to make friends with his peers. He impresses them with his piggy bank. He tells them that he wants to buy a bike with his savings. After the piggy bank is smashed open it turns out it contains only fake money handmade by the boy.

„Merry-go-round” short story
One day a colorful collection of funfair wagons arrive on the outskirts of a little town. A group of boys watch the unloading and the setting up of the stalls and rides. They are intrigued by the merry-go-round and they wish they could take a ride on it. When they find out its main engine is broken, they offer their help in spinning it manually. The funfair director promises the boys pay and a free ride after work. The next day the boys come and take their places at the spinning wheel. Only Rudy is missing as he has to put a goat out to pasture. The boys work long hours. The youngest one, Pyza, cannot cope with the pace of work. He moves aside and falls asleep. He dreams about riding the merry-go-round and telling Rudy all about it. At the end of the day the boys get their pay and are invited to take their free ride. However, they are too exhausted to do so. The funfair lights are turned off. The crowds disappear. The boys’ fail to realise their dream.
„Fall of a millionaire” short story
On a summers day some new residents, ten-year-old boy and his parents, arrive to a little town. Some boys his age, nicknamed Krępy (Chunky), Black (Czarny) and Chudy (Scrag) watch him from afar. He appears small and weak to them. They make spiteful remarks about the piggy bank the boy is holding. They do not believe that he has any money saved in it. They ironically call him a millionaire. The boy is determined to impress his peers. He won't be parted from his piggy bank even for a moment and at home he puts it in the most visible spot possible. All the kids from the town dream of having a bike. He claims he can afford a bike so he often visits the bike shop to inquire about new deliveries. Czarny (Black) and Chudy (Scrag) start to seek his favour by bringing him fruit and vegetables from their gardens. They do so hoping he will let them take a ride on his bike one day. However, Krępy (Chunky) does not believe the boy and he decides to check his piggy bank for money. One evening the boys snatch the blue piggy bank from the window sill and try to look inside. They accidentally break it open and run away terrified. Only Czarny (Black) stays and discovers that the piggy bank is filled with fake money handmade by the boy. He is disappointed and angry. When he sees the Millionaire coming, he attacks him. The next day, the Millionaire finds some tomatoes on his window sill. This time it is a selfless gift from Czarny (Black).

„»Małe Dramaty« obciążone są […] dwoma poważnymi mankamentami: brak im sprecyzowanego adresata; ich problematyka jest całkowicie niemal (mimo konkretnego tła historyczno-socjologicznego) wyabstrahowana z kontekstu społecznego. Trudno ustalić do kogo adresował Nasfeter film o małych, niedostrzeganych przez świat ludzi dorosłych, dziecięcych dramatach. […] Problematyka psychologiczna „»Małych Dramatów« nie jest również ani specjalnie odkrywcza, ani specjalnie autentyczna. Grupa »inteligenckich« maluchów próbuje w filmie kreować swych egzotycznych rówieśników z wyimaginowanego »dna społecznego« i robi to bardzo sztucznie i bardzo po aktorsku”.

„Wbrew rzetelnym wysiłkom twórców, rzucającym się w oczy od pierwszego kadru – powstał z »Małych dramatów« film nijaki: ani poetycka opowieść o dzieciach dla dorosłych , ani przygodowy, o żywej akcji, film dla dzieci. Owszem. Jest w tym filmie coś z walorów obu tych gatunków, ale – mimo rzetelnej pracy twórców z doskonałymi, młodymi aktorami, mimo dobrych zdjęć, mimo prawdziwie wdzięcznych i dramatycznych tematów – »Małe Dramaty« nie zadawalają dorosłych, ani też – mimo pozorów zachowywania się dzieci na ekranie tak, jak gdyby były tylko między sobą i przeżywały swoje wielkie przygody – film nie spodoba się dzieciom, bo się w nim za mało dzieje”.
