About the film

Victoria Sports Club has been prospering in Częstochowa since 1922. The film starts with the shots of footballers, entrepreneurs and honourable members of the club, among others. The main events of the jubilee are sport shows: “turtle race” on bicycles and strongman demonstrating his power. The strongman stands on one of his hands, having a 50-pound weight strapped to his leg, he hammers a nail into a plank with his other hand, and finishes with having the horses stretching his arms.
The film was made by the Krzemińscy brothers who were among the pioneers of Polish cinematography and also the founders of the first stationary cinema venue in Poland (“Cabinet of Illusion” in Łódź, 1899) and cinematograph “Odeon” (Częstochowa, 1909).
