Settlement in the Recovered Territories

The Western Territories are waiting for Polish settlers. Wheat fields, farms, fish farms, agricultural machines, port districts, cities. The free land, still unclaimed awaits new owners. Olsztyn – the city on the territory of former Eastern Prussia. Major economic and administrative centres are already working. But the influx of Polish people is not adequate to the opportunities and needs in the cities. Before war Olsztyn was inhabited by 50 thousand people, mostly of German nationality. The deserted districts are waiting for new upright owners. The settlement process is handled by the National Repatriation Office. Its regional offices are present in all important centres of West Pomerania, Silesia, Masuria and Warmia. The settlers can find help there. More importantly, they receive first-hand information about the settled lands. More and more Poles from beyond the Bug river and central voivodeships find work and bread in the Recovered Territories. Torn away from the enemy, these lands will be reborn by the powerful stream of Polishness. In the first phase of mass settlement process over 2 million Poles need to be settled in Pomerania, Silesia, Masuria and Warmia. The future of the Polish Republic is being weighed in the West.
